• Worsted weight yarn (we recommend Lion Brand Vanna's Choice)
• Size 7 (4.5mm) knitting needles
• Tapestry needle

Gauge

18 stitches and 24 rows per 4 inches in stockinette stitch

Instructions

Jacket

1. Cast on 60 stitches.
2. Knit 1 row.
3. Purl 1 row.
4. Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures 6 inches from the cast-on edge.
5. Shape the armholes:
   • Bind off 3 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
   • Knit 1 row.
   • Purl 1 row.
   • Bind off 3 stitches at the end of the next 2 rows.
6. Continue knitting in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 12 inches from the cast-on edge.
7. Shape the neck:
   • Bind off 15 stitches at the beginning of the next 2 rows.
   • Knit 1 row.
   • Purl 1 row.
   • Bind off the remaining stitches.
8. Sew the shoulder seams.
9. Pick up and knit 60 stitches around the armholes.
10. Knit 1 row.
11. Purl 1 row.
12. Repeat rows 10 and 11 until the sleeves measure 6 inches from the underarm.
13. Bind off all stitches.
14. Sew the sleeves to the body.

Hat

1. Cast on 96 stitches.
2. Join the round, being careful not to twist the stitches.
3. Knit 1 round.
4. Purl 1 round.
5. Repeat rows 3 and 4 until the hat measures 4 inches from the cast-on edge.
6. Shape the crown:
   • *Knit 2, knit 2 together*

   Repeat * to * around the entire round.

7. Knit 1 round.
8. Repeat rows 6 and 7 until there are only 12 stitches remaining.
9. Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail.
10. Thread the tail through the remaining stitches and pull tight to close the crown.
11. Weave in any loose ends.
